Why is my battery not charging anymore?

I bought a new charger for my surface pro 2 two weeks ago and all went fine with it. Now, I charge my battery until it says 100% but when I removed the power wire and close the screen with the button above right, when I re open it, there is no more battery and it tells me to recharge it... So basically, I have to recharge my battery everytime I want to do some work on it! It has been 2 years I have it and it never happened...

After closing the screen, how long do you wait until you use it again? Is it a few minutes or hours? And can you shut down using the on screen command and check if the battery still drains?
