Trying to download AOL desktop but get "red x" when installer runs, why?

I have installed and uninstalled (don't ask why) on my computer many times but this time AOL won't install. I have Windows 10 (this has not changed in relevant time period) but after downloading the .exe file I get a red x and a blank box. What is up?

after hours and hours of trying to figure this out i found the fix, go to the search box at the bottom of the screen and type installed updates... In the upper right of the window, in the search box, search for "KB3132372." Find "Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3132372)", click it and then click Uninstall above the list. restart computer and install aol
