Install another OS on Surface Pro 3

Is it possible to install another OS on a Surface Pro 3?

I am doing some Linux development so I want to be able to boot my tablet into Ubuntu occasionally but keep Windows 8.1 Pro because this is my main OS and development platform.

I know it was possible with a Windows 7 laptop but what about a Surface Pro 3?

*I'm aware of alternatives such as using a VM and installing Ubuntu on a USB. Being able to partition the HD and dual boot is the easiest imo.

Pro 3 is a full PC like any other laptop, just... smaller.

I have a dual-boot setup on my ThinkPad, which is similar under the hood to a i7 Pro 3.
