Yahoo mail goes down quite often.
If you're speaking about the mobile app try re-syncing a few times.
This might kick start your recent mail.
In the past I've had to uninstall then reset Yahoo mail.
Also for me Outllook.com seems to have few problems with Yahoo mail accounts.
This might be a good alternative if you aren't already using Outlook on the web.
