Sign in PIN option is gone. How do I get it back?

The screen is locked and the computer cannot be accessed without the PIN. Password option is showing, but no option for PIN

Enter the password and lock the screen

A reboot/restart might show it, but if someone has used up all PIN retries you will likely have to enter the password.
