Windows Central Question

Everything was fine yesterday, I woke up, go check email on primary account on wp8.1, lumia 1520, and I am getting a constant error code 8500201d, my other email account works flawlessly, please help.

I began having the same problem today, 9/9 at around 12.00 EST on all my Windows devices. The email server for my account appears to have changed from blu something to aes.outlook.com. I haven't noticed other changes. Photos on the People app disappeared and checking to sync any Outlook related app brings the same error message. Having no email sucks.

same here, there's a thread on Microsoft Community with lots of people having the same issue, and a couple of suggestions - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...8500201d/91d685e8-4fc4-4eae-958c-ad11eaa3ffb4

I tried this and it worked, for about 2 hours ): https://support.office.com/en-us/ar...a4bd6e2ea800?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US&fromAR=1

I was actually reading a text from my wife when it disappeared!! and now my phone says the last text I got from her was more than 24 hours ago. Definitely not true, and a big problem.

I tried what's in the 2nd link earlier and after 4 hours, no change. I did some maintenance on my contacts in People on the web, completely removed any connection to Google accounts and now all is good. I'm not sure what fixed it but will read the resolutions on the MS Community page linked too in case it happens again. Maybe it was just a server problem since there were many with the same error this week.

I am getting the same error since yesterday after my main Outlook account got migrated into the new Outlook/Live account - in Outlook mail as well as People app where it says 'Needs Attention' and doesn't sync giving this error code.Contact photos had disappeared along with the specific ringtones I had set for my family members' contact numbers.I had to set them again.
Similar error code on both phone and laptop.

I had a similar issue. Outlook Mail and Windows Outlook App would not sync with Office Outlook 2016. I removed an email that was causing this to happen.

Open all the apps you are using. Look for an odd email or contact or a meeting/appointment that you added recently and remove it. Check if it updates.

Or

Start by moving all emails to the delete folder from both apps. Then send an email to yourself and see if both apps sync. If they do, then move the emails from the delete folder one by one or in batches and narrow down to the email that is causing the problem.

Hope this helps.
