i can't get my e-mails to sync

I use the mail tap on the start menu, and when I go to view my e-mail accounts, they are not up to date, when I sync them it is syncing for hours, where it would be just a matter of moments. I went into the system to my accounts to try and remove and reinstall my accounts and it just sits there, does nothing.

you can try to reset the mail app from settings > system > apps and features > mail app > advanced options >reset app
