Why my laptop screen wont turn on?

I have a toshiba satellite laptop. Recently I updated my windows 10 and about a day later, if I try to turn on my laptop, it turns on completely fine but the screen remains black. I have tried many things, turning on/off, closing/opening laptop, leving it on for days at a time, letting the battery die and recharging. Nothing has seemed to work and it's been like this for nearly 2 weeks now.
