I'm limping along with a 925. It works great, but web browsing is always pretty slow. Was wondering if anyone has both & can give feedback. Thanks.

I've Lumia 735 similar hardware
Browsing is smooth, but it's the IE 11 which makes the experience bad!
I tried Microsoft edge on my 720, it's away better than the IE

Due to similar specs web browsing will most likely be the same across all three devices

925 & 920 have sharper displays and much better cameras

The 640 has a larger but less crisp display, and a camera that isn't as good. But it does have a quad core processor, but apparently the 400 processor used in the 640 & 830 isn't really any better than the processor in the 920, 925 & 928\

I personally wouldn't choose a 640 over a 925 or 920... You just lose some really good stuff

Although the 925/920 vs the 640xl, 730/735, or 830 is a different discussion... That would be a real battle

920/925>640 IMO

An Old Flagship always seems to be a better buy than a new budget phones IMO

Yeah, kinda what I was thinking. I feel like my 925 is plenty fast enough but freakin IE slows it down. It really is the worst of the major mobile platform browsers. I may just load up the dev preview so I can run Edge.

Thanks. Sounds about right. The 925 screen is pretty great, viewing angles, etc. So is the camera. I guess if overall speed isn't any better on the 640 then it def wouldn't be worth it.

I have the 640 and the 925 not using the 925 currently.

I've said previously the Lumia 925 is timeless and still a very capable device today if it remains reliable.
Up against the 640 however I personally prefer the Lumia 640 at this time due to size, expandable storage and improved picture taking features.

A trusty 925 is certainly a keeper!

I have the 920 and 925 (which is my daily driver) but not the 640 although I've been searching for it. Honestly, the only negative about the 925 vs the 640 is that it's only 16GB and lacks a microSD slot for memory expansion.

I have both, and have posted before on the comparison here

Paper processing specs are meaningless. In daily use the 640 is much faster than the 925.

Just be aware if you do this, you will not be able to go back to 8.1. And you might brick your handset along the way.

Actually you CAN indeed go back to 8.1, that is the step where people often do brick their devices

I got the 640 to replace my 925. My main driving factor was that my battery life had gone to hell. Was seeing 30% left by 2PM. Got the 640 and now with the same level of use I have around 50% left by 6PM. Performance is around the same, possibly a little better. I've noticed when I toggle wifi off it takes less time to ungray the toggle to toggle it again. Not a scientific means by any stretch. The screen looks nice, but not as nice as the AMOLED on the 925. The replaceable battery and expandable storage are nice perks over the 925, with the later practically mandatory due to only having 8GB onboard. All in all, it is a good replacement for the 925 if you're happy with the performance but want something a little more modern and recent.

As a 925 user, I haven't used the 640 yet, but the screen resolution of the 925 is superior and crisp versus the 640.

Not to mention the deeper blacks that make it hard to tell where the screen ends at, which IMO is one of the coolest things about Windows Phone using an AMOLED display... A really amazing effect IMO

The 640 camera clearly wont be as good, and also the build doesn't look anywhere near as premium...The 640 body looks like some $5 glossy case from china IMO, and the design is uninspired just like the 635 was compared to the 640xl which IMO is beautiful

You don't have to have used the phone to know and understand that the 925 has the crisper screen... It isn't a matter of opinion, in hand feel, or user experience, the 925 having a crisper screen is a factual specification. Both are 720p, but the 925 screen is smaller, so it has a higher ppi, making it the crisper display

The 640 camera is quite good, and really quick to take pictures. The 640 XL would be a better bet for camera lovers.
The 640 definitely lacks any premium 'feel' in the hand - in fact it feels somewhat cheap and plasticky.

For my use cases, the 640 is a better fit - faster and way better battery life. I use it for email, messaging, and ..er... y'know...making calls
Plus because its so cheap I don't worry so much about loss or damage. The 925 was what got me into Windows phones in the first place so its a nice bit of kit.

The 925 was my first Windows Phone too. I has the silver/white model from T-Mobile... It felt so big coming from a 4.3 inch screen...

Although I'd been wanting a windows Phone since the days of the "beta test is over" Lumia 900 ads

I played with a Lumia 920 in a Microsoft store and it blew me away. I had already made up my mind that iOS was turning into a steamin pile of *&^% by then and was wondering what to do about it...

Unfortunately, my company is about to get me a new phone - either a Galaxy S6 or Note 4. I'll be interested to see how they stack up against my cheapo 640.

Consider the 640 line :) Give the XL a shot, it can really surprise you :) I currently have the 920 and the 635, owned the 925. The 920 gets the job done for me, but if you're looking for value, I would say go to a shop and play with the 640 and XL

My 920 always had random battery issues. My 635 and 830 since then have had perfect battery life. Worth going for the 640 just because of that. 920 camera will give better photos though. 640 has SD card for expansion. 640 likely a little faster with WM10. Quad cores better used in Edge etc. 920 better at games though.
