OK ... for all of us "pissed off" at Verizon customers - IF, "the 950XL and 950" are offered "unlocked" does that technically make it work on Verizon in the US market - OR - does "Verizon" still have to "carry it"?

PLEASE SAY YES !!!

I eagerly watched the entire webcast = very impressive, but zero details on "carriers"? So, now what?

re: Will an "unlocked" 950XL work on Verizon?

Band 13 isn't listed anywhere. So i'm assuming the answer is now :[

GSM network: 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz
GSM max data speed DL: EGPRS 296.0kbps
GSM max data speed UL: EGPRS 236.8kbps
WCDMA network: Band 1 (2100MHz), Band 2 (1900MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz), Band 5 (850MHz), Band 8 (900MHz)
WCDMA max data speed DL: 42.2Mbps (Cat 24)
WCDMA max data speed UL: 5.76Mbps (Cat 6)
LTE FDD network: Band 1 (2100MHz), Band 17 (700MHz), Band 2 (1900MHz), Band 20 (800MHz), Band 3 (1800MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz), Band 5 (850MHz), Band 7 (2600MHz), Band 8 (900MHz), Band 28 (700MHz), Band 12 (700MHz)
TD-LTE network: Band 38 (2570-2620MHz), Band 40 (2300-2400MHz), Band 41 partially (2555-2575 MHz)
LTE max data speed DL: 300 Mbps (Cat 6)
LTE max data speed UL: 50 Mbps (Cat 6)

Screw Verizon anyways they'd find some way to botch their end of the support deal. I'd rather them not **** around this time if they do. Time for them to change face and ditch the monotonous villain undertones.

Band 2 and 4 are listed however and are two of the frequencies Verizon uses for LTE along with 13, so maybe. Either way whoever the phone works with is who I'm going with

What LTE band does the Verizon Lumia Icon, 928 and 735 use - that should be a key indicator - if it was 13, then I guess we are screwed?

HERE WE GO AGAIN (remember when WP7 was annouced ?)

At this point, these are GSM phones, so Verizon is a No-GO for now, unless you see Verizon making an annoucement, I would not count on it working as there would be no CDMA on these phones.

Even if you could hack it to get it working, getting it activated on Verizon would be a whole different story...

If 4G LTE, which I believe they are steering towards, then Band 13 for CDMA looks like 1,2,5,8. Looks like maybe more No?

Networks
CDMA1X; 3G EVDO 850/1900 Rev A with Rx Diversity 4G LTE/SVLTE 700 Band 13; 1700 Band 4 Global - UMTS/WCDMA –2100, 900, 850, 1900; GPRS/EDGE/GSM GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n FM Radio (with wired headset sold separately)

What's most disappointing is "I thought" that ALL Microsoft phones use some "universal Qualcomm EVERY BAND on the planet type of radios" - if so, how on earth could it not contain Verizon 4G LTE bands?

Thanks for the history, but we had been "hoping" that Microsoft would fulfill their "rumored promise" from almost 6 months ago to "go direct" with UNLOCKED phones!

re: Will an "unlocked" 950XL work on Verizon?

All the hardware possibilities are somewhat irrelevant when talking unlocked phones and Verizon. Fact is if they don't want to activate it, even if it would work on their network, it's not going to work. They only currently activate a couple of "unlocked" devices and that's iPhone/Nexus. Unless you hear from big red on this directly, it ain't happening.

re: Will an "unlocked" 950XL work on Verizon?

OK. Let's pretend here that not everyone here understands the differences between the bands, CDMA, or GSM. According to "Verizon Wireless LTE 3GPP Band 13 Network Access Device Requirements" (Sorry it wont let me post the link here) I see the following...

2.2.1.2.1 VZ_REQ_LTEB13NAC_6269
The device shall be an LTE category 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, or 9 device per 3GPP TS 36.306: Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA); User Equipment (UE) radio access capabilities.
Applicable to: [4G Basic Phone, Connected Device, Feature Phone, Femtocell, Jet Pack, Modem, Module, Netbook/Laptop, Router, Set-Top Box (VMS), Smart Phone, Tablet, USB Modem] - Scope: [Branded, LRA (LTE in Rural America), Open Access, Open Development, Wholesale]

:confused::confused::confused:

However I also see that they are looking for band 13. :eck: Can someone pleasae read these documents and translate them into plain (non-communications engineer) english for the rest of us. :crying:

Well ... NO Band 13 is kind of a mood point - the 700 Mhz spectrum "as I recall" contained language that Verizon "must allow any device" blah, blah, blah !!!

I just spoke with a Verizon rep as well, he confirmed that the 950 doesn't support CDMA with the specs listed on the website, and thus wouldn't work on Verizon's network

Well ****!. Looks like I am going to have to go to AT&T. The problem for me is that Verizon has CLEARLY the best coverage in my area. Nobody complains about the coverage (service and support are another matter) but every other carrier gets complaints. Need to shop and compare.
