Will the combat be as difficult as elden ring or dark souls?
No! Not nearly. Combat is meant to encourage experimentation, your pawns will actively support you, defend you, and heal you should something catastrophic happen! While you will rarely be downed by a single blow, each combat encounter has The potential to overwhelm and test you through a wide variety of enemies and that will be tough to effectively combat in a way that feels safe. Your party composition has the ability to make or break you in tough fights. While no longer 1 to 1 with the original game(as new classes and abilities have been added to encourage more of that experimentation) it has a similar flow. Epic moments and last ditch efforts are highly rewarded along side learning what you will face, and the game will adapt to your successes in an intelligent way as to continuously keep you on your toes without being unfair. New enemies may show up where you frequently travel, goblins may bring their leader along for an ambush just around that down the road you frequent. You may find a cyclops there or a pack of wolves. In mid fight a gryphon may come to interrupt a struggle with common bandits. It’s up to you if you let them fight it out, get in the middle or run! I hope this helps!
