Before I start, sorry if this is a useless thread, but I don't know where to post this

I've been thinking - the Lumia lineup is very confusing to many people at the moment, and I think Microsoft needs to simplify it. Here's my ideas:

Lumia C - the low end device - it'd have 1GB of RAM and a S400 processor, similar to the L535 and L635. It'd cost ?120
Lumia - the mid range device - it'd have 1GB of RAM and a S615 processor. It'd cost about ?250 to ?300
Lumia Pro - the high end device - it'd have 3GB of RAM and a S805 processor. It'd cost ?400 to ?500
Lumia Cam - the camera/niche device - it'd have 2GB of RAM and a S800. It'd boast a 50MP camera, costing ?450

Now this is where it gets interesting...

Surface Phone - the phablet device - it'd have 3GB of RAM and a S810. It'd boast a screen of 1440p, costing about ?500 to ?600

The Lumia phone would have the Lumia name replacing the Microsoft logo; the same would apply for the Surface logo.

So, what do you think?

I don't like the idea of using names.
I prefer to use the numbers as Nokia always did.

It's not really that hard to generally understand, for phones in the same generation, that 5xx < 6xx < 7xx < 8xx < 9xx < 10xx and 13xx < 15xx for the big phones.
And these eight lineup has their own market in the world (oh wait, are you US American? yes, people does exist outside your country)

That last line and those brackets made me sigh.

No, I am not American, I'm English, thank you very much. I'm guessing you're from India - you get better treatment compared to us.

The current lineup is confusing for people (not myself). The 1320 is worse than the 930? What? You've got to think of it from a normal, everyday person's view. They don't search up what each phone does/which ones are better. To add to this, the 535 is better than the 630 (in most ways). That's gonna confuse people, plus having loads of phones on the market isn't going to help.

Sure, my idea can transition to numbers, but I think that having it streamlined like this would make things easier.

I agree with your point about the 1320.

Regards to the Microsoft 535, that is a newly developed phone by a different company. With the high specs of the 535, we can predict that the Microsoft 6xx and higher will have much better specs, thus sorting out the current overlap we have. E.g 640 has 1gb ram, SD400 and ClearBlack display.

About the 535 anomaly, I wrote about that in another thread similar to this. I'm going to dig deep through the forums to find it.
EDIT: Here it is http://forums.windowscentral.com/showthread/322537.htm

Have you looked up Samsung's phone lineup? Nokia's numbering makes more sense than whole bunch of that.

I thought you were US American back then because you seem unfamiliar with Nokia's numbering. Sorry for bringing that up. And I'm Indonesian, by the way.

I just thought that the 535 is oddly placed, and Microsoft should either bring all models into x30/x40 or give them new names.

Okay, so here's another proposal for this:

Lumia 540: The low end device, with bare bones specs.
Lumia 640: Between the Lumia 740 and 540, this is a low-mid range device.
Lumia 740: The mid-range device.
Lumia 840: The cheap flagship device.
Lumia 940: The flagship.
Surface Phone: The phablet.

Where's the cheap phablet (1320 family)?

I think they need 3 basic phones. Low end (6xx), mid-range (7/8xx), high (9/10xx). I agree that the naming needs to change. I used numbers for a comparison. They should just be called Lumia something. Maybe Lumia-L5 for the low end device released in 2015. Then make a phablet for the mid and high range devices. I like the idea of a heavy camera phone. But, they are supporting to many phones.

The high range should have the highest of the high for specs with 32 GB internal. Windows doesn't need 3gb of ram. But, most people buy based on specs. Mid-range should make use of the elusive SD 6xx, 16 GB internal 15mp rear and minimum of 5mp on the front. Low end should have a SD 4xx 1gb of ram, 8GB internal. Low end should have a SD2xx, front and rear cameras with 1gb of ram. All devices should have an SD card slot and removable battery.

Steve J got apple back on track by doing a few products and doing them well. I hope the upcoming announcement brings some good news.

Sorry for the bump, but here's another redesign. This one is radically different.

Lumia C - The low end to mid range phone. It'd be like the 735 and 638.
Lumia X - The high end phone, like the 930.
Surface Phone - The high-end phone like the 1530.

I think Lumia 5xx (or even 4xx) till Lumia 10xx is just fine.
4xx ~50$
5xx ~100$
6xx ~150$
7xx ~200$
8xx ~300$
9xx ~450$
10xx ~600$

For phablets (5,5" and bigger) I'd go
5xxL ~100$
7xxL ~200$
9xxL ~450$

Maybe this could work:

Lumia Mini - low end, 4' screen, 3MP rear + VGA ff
Lumia Lite - low end, 4'5 screen, 5MP rear + 2MP ff
Lumia Win - mid range, 4,7' screen, 8MP rear + 5MP ff
Lumia Win Plus - mid range phablet, 6' screen, 8MP rear + 5MP ff
Lumia PRO - high end, 5,2' screen, 20MP rear + 5MP ff
Lumia CAM - camera phone, 5' screen, 41MP rear + 5MP ff
Lumia Plus - phablet, 5' screen, 20MP rear + 5MP ff

The Lumia line is getting too confuse. Too much numbers and weird specs. We need less models and more marketing by Microsoft.
