IE Data Usage High | Data Sense

I am grateful for the Data Sense being enabled for AT&T w/8.1 however I am seeing some strange data usage while web-browsing.

I only go to the mobile websites but my data usage for IE exceeds the data usage for all over apps...even podcast!

Has anyone else seen a high data usage for Internet Explorer with 8.1?

I did a quick test to see how much data is being used and I went to the verge home page, clicked one news article and voila...I used 2MB of data that quick!!

I know a music file can used between 5-9MB so why does text consume so much data?

I've downloaded a few images of the site and they are not that large...like 160kb so whats using so much data?

Are you watching YouTube videos on any websites? Those typically use quite a bit of data.
