Sorry if I sound totally unaware of Windows world, since I have been unable to use my Lumia 925 for 2 months for a personal reason. I have some really weird questions about Windows Phone since I've been out of the platform being unable to keep track of things...
Now that Lumia 950 devices are available to purchase and 950 XL starting delivery, does it mean that Windows 10 Mobile is finally RTM? Or the shipped 950 series devices come with an insider preview installed like the ones showcased at the Windows 10 Devices event last month? I don't think that you can install Windows Phone 8.1 on Lumia 950 or 950 XL, right?

Well, its probably RTM, the 950 are not on the Insider program, and actually are not supported by it yet. (doesn't matter yet anyway)

No 8.x on 950, like you cant put iPhone OS 3 onto an iPhone 4.

they don't have the balls to call it that but yea 10586 is the most RTM build you will see for a while, as to say you can survive with it, I wouldn't say "count on it" but more like "almost" reliable

One thing I noticed today in an article about Hey Cortana is that the 950/950XL have different settings to my 1520 and I assume the 930 so although I thought they were on the same build number, they can't be the same build just yet.

RTM doesn't really apply with the new vision of Windows as a Service. Or, at least it's a bit more confusing.

Yes, Lumia 950 and 950 XL released with Windows 10. However, the insider builds have already surpassed the build on those devices. They are on 10586.0 and we are on 10586.11.

So it's RTM in the sense that devices are released with it but not exactly in the sense that it isn't actually released for any other device, and is still having build iterations.

One thing I noticed today in an article about Hey Cortana is that the 950/950XL have different settings to my 1520 and I assume the 930 so although I thought they were on the same build number, they can't be the same build just yet.

Also, just to comment on this. Some settings are phone/hardware specific. If your phone doesn't support them they don't show up. Some settings will look different between phones. For example, some phones do not support glance.

That may be, I honestly don't know what phones support hey cortana as I don't use it on my phone(nor have I tried). Too many Windows devices around that will pick up my voice.

The point I was making is they are able to customize the settings you see based on your phone model. Doesn't mean it's a different build, just means they haven't enabled it for that specific model(s). Though in this case the insider build is newer than what's on the 950/950XL.

In which case it's odd, the 950/XL have the new settings whereas the 1520/930 have the newer build.

It's not an important point and although I am considering 10586 to be RTM and have upgraded my wife's 830, we do have to remember that it is all still "Beta" software, and not an "Officail" release yet.
