Lightning bolt and gear icon?

I just had the strangest thing happen a minute ago,i was putting a new screen protector on my L950 and I had it turned off,apparently while I was scrubbing down the screen for dust and dirt I must've hit the buttons in a certain sequence because I looked at the screen and their was a small lightning bolt next to a gear,but not like the big ones when its updating,both were very small,so i immediately took the back off and started to remove the battery and thought that if I do that I could damage it,so I plugged the charger in and then said he$$ no,so I took the battery out and waited a sec and turned it on,everything seems fine so far,but does anyone know what the H that was? Very strange

That's really strange. I'm not sure what that means. Perhaps it has something to do with a background task? Where was the icon?

My phone was off,i had shut it plum down and it was in the middle of the screen,it was about inch high,probably a little smaller,but the phone is ok

That sounds like the recovery screen. It comes up by pressing a combination of the power and volume down keys.
