Built my gaming rig 4 years back, and upgraded GPU to RTX 2080 TI last year. Will I see any real performance difference upgrading the CPU from i7-6700K to a Ryzen 3rd gen series or Intel 10th gen series? Or should I wait for next gen? Advice appreciated!

I went to a Ryzen 5 3rd gen, and I don't regret it.

, check your cpu usage when gaming, if 100% or near than upgrade. Also it depends really on what kind of games you play and what have running in the background too. In general the video card is a higher priority than the cpu and the video card will be most of the time the first one to bottleneck (the exception here can a hdd for loading levels and starting up games etc.).

That's what I was thinking, too - what MB did you end up with?

I am so sorry for the slow response. I went with an Asus Prime X570 - P. It is a pretty good board. I almost wish I had gone with a step up to the ROG or TUF, but more for looks than anything else.

I recently upgraded to G. Skill Trident Z for RAM. I clocked the RAM at 2900 MHz, and boy does it seem a lot faster.
