Still won't install 1709

My 950 is set aside for the most part, but every so often I bring it out to update in case I need to use it as a backup. It shows 1709 being available, downloads it, says there isn't a good time to restart it, so I tap restart now. When I check on it later, it's downloading the update again. I had previously put it on the fast ring so that it could get as far as Microsoft will let it. Any ideas on what to try? Thanks.

Maybe try to force the issue. You will need to do a reset https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12379/windows-10-mobile-device-recovery-tool-faq

Understandably, it is offended. Try making it your main phone. My 950 knows that the lovely Xperia XZ1 is the set-aside, backup one; it's been sitting pretty at 1709 since January.

Otherwise, I would just leave it plugged in, "set aside", and let it update on its own terms.

I didnt write this guide, but ive used it alot and its great.. Just make sure you read it all the way through and understand it before you start .... make sure you backup before doing this
