I believe that the majority of the users on this forum are older than me ( 22 years of age ).

I have a few questions for you. You dont have to be exact about your personal information.

How old are you?
Are you happy?
Are you bored of your everyday grind?
What have you found to be the purpose of life?

I'm 35
YES! ... most of the time.
YES! I quit my job last month and going back to school full time to change careers. Going to learn Radiation Therapy to give back to the community that gave my mother a second and third chance in life. She is a 2 time cancer survivor.
I don't know what THE purpose of life is, but I do know we should all have a purpose. It is entirely up to us to find a purpose.

I like the idea of finding a purpose in life, by making mine bigger and about more than just myself. That can be a million different things. Just like what the poster above me mentioned, which I think is awesome.

The purpose of life is to live. Be a good human and enjoy the time you have been given on this earth.
Fix problems one at a time.

I feel like the old man of this group. I'm almost 50 and I'm very happy at this stage of my life. I've been married to my soul mate for 18 years now (2nd time was the charm) and I'm still in love with her. Kids, watch what you eat and don't ignore your body's warning signs. I had a heart attack at 46 that should have killed me but God wasn't through with me on Earth. My purpose in life is to be the best father I can be to my teenage autistic daughter and to get as close as I can to the Divine. I always thought I was 10 feet tall and bullet-proof. Well, I found out they make 10 foot long coffins.

I'm 27, and I'm not entirely happy. I know what makes me happy, and I'm striving to make the changes necessary to pursue that more in my life. Am I bored of my mundane daily routine? Yes. Hopefully, the changes I've decided upon will fix that, and make my daily less mundane, at least for me. I do not know my purpose, as I haven't found it yet. I hope to figure that out before I'm dead for good. In the meantime, I'm trying to enjoy my time while I can still use the air in my lungs.

Here's a comic I've found inspiring: Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal

1. Nearly 50
2. Yeeeaaaaaahhhhhhh, generally.
3. Working with the public is a never ending parade. From the genuinely charming to the representatives from Greater Knobendia.
4. Well you can't take it with you, so it can't be acquisition and I'm reliably informed that the paths of glory lead but to the grave, so if I might commit analogy, I reckon it's choreography not navigation.

And I haven't even started drinking.

2. Absolutely.
3. I am happy/satisfied with the direction of my life, but not necessarily every aspect of the journey. Managing a mobile retailer is an awful nightmare, but in the context that it is temporary until I finish my PhD and write/teach, it is bearable. I would say I am "content" with the status quo so long as I am confident it is only temporary.
4. As a Buddhist, I would suggest the purpose of life is freedom from all manner of suffering and craving. To truly live. You enjoy the world so much more when you are not constantly wanting for something more.

1) 23

2) For the most parts yes, but I'm currently going through all kinds of big things in life. Having an extremely important summer job (that is basically the job I wanna do when I graduate) that I have very little experience in, but want to make a good impression. First kid coming in august.. 2 more years of university (3 done).. fiancees workplace pretty much getting shut down next summer puts some financial pressure.. So a lot of new things happening and coming up and it's hard to say much about future at this time, but I have faith in it.

3) Well, as mentioned above, I'm hardly living the "everyday grind" at the moment. The grind would probably be university, I'd really like to be done with that already, but still have a few more years to go so that I could actually get to the actual every day grind of my future career :D

4) Purpose.. I don't really think it so much as a purpose. We are here, so let's try to make the best out of it. My personal goal is to try to live my life so that I wouldn't have to regret things when I'm older. However trying to pursue that, I already have found myself regretting some of the decisions made younger when trying to ensure to not have to regret things :D More concrete purpose.. I guess to continue the human race through family and trying to live a good life.

How old are you? - 24
Are you happy? - No, most of the times.
Are you bored of your everyday grind? - Yes.
What have you found to be the purpose of life? - Life is a mess, don't try to solve it, just deal with it.

Age - 42 (nope not a HGTG joke)
Am I happy? - Like most people I have ups and downs, such is life. If you look into positive psychology at all you'd learn that most people travel a average of 'happiness'. If you don't travel this average then you can do things to make yourself happier. Also, don't confuse positive psychology with the nonsense of new age thinking of forced happiness.
Am I bored of my everyday grind? Sometimes, though there are days I do enjoy it
What have you found to be the purpose of life? To enjoy it as much as I can, to learn as much as I can, to see as much as I can. Family and friends. There is no real purpose to life other than what you personally want to make of it. Not the easiest thing to comprehend but a truth.

You folks need some Jesus in your life.

Not sure if this is a joke or not but no I don't need some false reality in my life. I am an atheist, an anti theist and damn happy about it.

I'm with LaRue in his views on religion but the meaning to my life is my two year old son. I'm a technician at Blue Cross Blue Shield and a software engineer.

Are you happy? Enough of the time. But this is a foolish question. Happiness is a target, not a state of being. A person who is happy to have the latest tech toy will not be satisfied months later.
Are you bored of your everyday grind? A bit, but I try to do many activities to get the most of my free time
What have you found to be the purpose of life? Help those (humans, animals, the environment) around me by becoming as well versed in many topics. I have a hard time specialising in a single topic when there is so many things that are interesting in life.

You have to want *something* because otherwise a person stagnates in growth which leads to lethargy. Lethargy ultimately leads to depression. If you were to ask successful individuals what they want after completing a lifetime goal, or a large goal, you will hear a new want.

Then what was the purpose of this thread? If there was an answer you were hoping for then guide the thread with some good questions. Asking questions is good, asking large general questions without a purpose is shooting blind. Why go hunting if you are just going to put on a blindfold and hope you get something you can eat?

I'm not going to get into an discussion about religion on a Windows Forum. What you have said however is not true, you have no proof to back up your statement cause it would be impossible to know what anyone is thinking on their deathbed. Let's not get into the no atheists in foxhole argument as that's a fallacy I can demolish in seconds.

Let's leave it there as all we'll end up doing is bugging everyone else.
