Why does my computer shut down when I ask it to sleep?

When I use sleep button the computer goes down and I cannot wake it up.

I'm not certain the level of response you'd like here. This could be a configuration setting, preventing you from waking your computer in the manner in which you are accustomed to. For example, my work computer (Surface Pro 3) can be woken by me moving the keyboard, but my desktop computer at home only wakes via a mouse click.
You can adjust the Power settings in Control Panel.
