Hi everyone

I upgraded my second laptop to Windows 10 Pro. Previously, it ran Windows 8.1 Pro. After upgrading, I checked the product key with ProduKey and I noticed that it has exactly the same product key as my other laptop running the insider preview. When I google it, I notice that it's a standard key for the RTM version.

How come? And if I would like to reinstall Windows 10, would that mean that I'd need to use that RTM product key?

Extra info: the laptop was running Windows 8.1 Pro previously and has no relation to my other laptop running the insider preview. Even the e-mail address is different.

It is a generic key but the system component id's are stored at Microsoft somewhere so if it is reinstalled it checks them to activate. If you type Winver in the search box it tells you who owns the operating system at the bottom, in my case me so that says to me it has retail rights and can be installed on any computer.
