I have upgraded to 10586.11 on my 930 and was interested to hear what others feel the battery mileage is of this build. After I upgraded I did a hard reset. Currently my impression is that battery drain is higher than with the latest 8.1 release.

What is your impression?

Battery was bad. I downgraded next day. 10 minutes of using phone and battery down to 85%

Note that you will need to give it 2-3 days to settle in. I am on my 3rd day so I think eventually the drain should start to become less, but please remember that when answering the poll. It seems to be normal for the phone to have higher drain first days :).

On my L1520 with 10586 battery drain is a little higher than with 8.1. After 11 hours of using, few calls, messages, using as flashlight etc. battery down to 83%. I think it's good result.

Battery drain is incredibly high for me with this particular build. Or it might be a particular app that's doing it (I suspect it might be WhatsApp, I'll check that out later).

I have this app but it doesn't work like t used to. it won't note battery levels with time correctly. Any suggestions on how I can get it to work properly?

Hi,
first i was also dissappointed with battery drain. The i turned off in settings / security / background-apps all unnesecary apps i don?t need to run in background. Battery life is now equal to denim on my L1520.

Good point, forgot about that one entirely. In 8.1 I had many background apps disabled - I have done that now too on 10 and will monitor. Thanks for the tip!

It's 8:40 a.m., my phone has been in use for exactly 2 hours since I woke up and unplugged it from charging at 100%, and I am down to 60% battery life. What did I do? I looked at some emails, checked the weather, and listened to 10 minutes of a podcast. That is pathetic and obviously not tenable. Stats since 11/20 show current discharge rate of 16% per hour, and average rate of 11% per hour.

Seems to be a little bit better on my 920.

[Edit] But, after this post, I got the dreaded overnight battery crash on my 920.

OK, so what I did is disable all but the critical system apps and communication apps from "Background Apps". Also I noticed I had nearly 12GB of pictures in OneDrive, which the phone tried to sync via a 6mbit line. I relocated most pictures to another folder (so my Win10 desktop will still find them), but the phone will not. I then copied all files via USB to the phone. After that the photo syncing was completed and the phone no longer ran hot.

This is maybe a usage scenario that Microsoft should look at as it impacts the phones performance when a user selected to sync with OneDrive and there are many GBs of pictures and a relatively slow line.

Battery now seems to hold up really well and the device no longer gets hot.
