Mute Conversation Gone after Anniversary Update

I just noticed the ability to mute a conversation in Messaging is gone after the last update. I used to be able to mute a conversation so it wouldn't make noise when a new message is received, but now the option seems to be gone.

For conversations already muted, I can still see "This conversation is muted." at the bottom of the screen, but no ability to mute or unmute anymore.

Is the option hidden somewhere? This was a really nice feature, so I can avoid getting woken up by spam messages.

I also notice with the Messaging app, that I can no longer see what I'm typing. All but the top 1 pixel is covered by the pop-up keyboard. Argh.

I'm using a Nokia Lumia 636 (like the 635, but with 1GB RAM).

The problem is bigger than I thought. I think it's not that the Mute function is gone, it's that the bottom of the screen is cut off, in Messaging, and many other applications.

Under System/About, it shows the resolution now:

Screen resolution: 480x854
App resolution: 480x854

Whereas before, I'm pretty sure the App resolution was 480x800, to take into account the system buttons on the bottom of the screen (back/windows/search). This is bad.

I tried changing the scaling, but it made no difference.

I found if I switch to landscape mode, then the bottom isn't cut off and I can access the menu and I can see what I'm typing again. But in portrait mode, everything is cut off.

I'm on version "1607" OS build 10.0.14393.67.

I'm thinking they screwed up the App Resolution for the Lumia 636 model.

Yes, that and more.

Here you can see what I'm talking about:

I can't access the Mute function, or the menu at all. And I can't even see what I'm typing since the on-screen keyboard covers it. Here I'm trying to type something, but I can't see it (except for the top 1 pixel of the first upper case letter).

If I switch to landscape mode, suddenly I can access the menu and the Mute function again, and I can see what I'm typing.

I think they must have messed up the "App Resolution" for the device, since it's listed in System/About as 480x854, when it should be 480x800, since the bottom 54 pixels are always taken up by the on-screen Navigation controls (you can see the screenshots themselves are 480x800).

I think its problem with 54px bottom margin on portrait mode.

Wait for next Patch. Maybe they'll solve it..

This is not very reassuring. I was thinking of moving over to Windows 10 Mobile from BB10 OS. I hope your issue is fixed soon.

I have the exact same problem :-( I'm trying to reset my phone now if it helps but no success. :-( How do I revert to last windows 10 stable update?

I don't think Windows 10 allows you to rollback a broken update. So we just have to wait for Microsoft to realize there's a problem and decide to fix it.

The thread title isn't the best, since I think the problem is really with the resolution setting in the firmware (or something similar that affects it). The missing Mute function was just the first of several problems I noticed.

Or you could do a factory reset and go back to Windows 8.1.

to be clear, from all the posts that I have read in many threads, the issue only seems to be affecting the lumia 63x series such as 635, 638 etc.

All other phone models such as the 640 or 950 are not affected by this

to go back you need to use windows device recovery tool installed on a pc
A factory reset will reinstall the same OS, not take you back

I have two Lumia 635s. One has version 1511, the other was just updated to 1607. Both have screen and app resolution as 480 x 854. The 1607 update caused the text to be covered by keyboard in message app as described. 1511 is on build 10586.545 and text app has no problems.
