I have 10049 installed on my computer. When I go to settings and under account settings select update my account. This webpage opens, and says that my platform is Windows 9. Interesting...Screenshot (23).jpg

That's what the browser is reporting to the website.
It's never definitely what the device is running.
The browser may say it's <something else> to the website so that the website presents a particular version of the site that the browser knows it can correctly render.

"Windows 9" could just be name they use until Windows 10 actually hits RTM. That way Microsoft can more easily differentiate problems depending on whether the issue is pre-release or not. Also, this is like the 12th Windows to launch but it is Windows version 10. Windows 8.1 was really Windows version 6.3.

The 6.3, I believe, refers to the kernel version.
MS's versioning systems for the actual OS have been as nonsensical as their licensing.
