W10 upgrade removed all my data and photos?

[Windows Central Question]

I upgraded to Windows and to my horror after it was Downloaded all my data disappear. Been working on a family book all previous version that I referred to gone. All my photos gone.

I am very upset. You have no idea. Years of work
My only consolation I had backed up a version of my book on a sub key Photos though gone People do not upgrade. How could they play with people like that. Very irresponsible on the part of who every wrote this program

The same thing happened to me. The language won't change and all my contacts are gone. My photos were on my SD so they're all still there :O

I don't know what they were they thinking when they released this officially
