What is the difference between the Facebook app in the store and Facebook Beta

Facebook Beta gets the latest features while Facebook is the official public release. That doesn't have any bugs. (Well shouldn't have any bugs)

I want to know why we need two different apps. Plus they aren't exactly the same, one will have features or integration for something and the other wont. Why not have one app and update as needed? Kinda stupid if you ask me.
