Cannot connect to any xbox apps

Hi! I recently received a lenovo u530 laptop for a graduation present. Everything is perfect but when I try to open any of the Xbox apps, a message pops up saying that it cannot connect. This happens with the games, with the store, with the music app, and with the movie app. I am connected to the wifi network because everything else works. Any suggestions?
