firewall protects applications installed on phone from leaking info , working as a spyware
the second is to protect from hackers and others.. it's a lack of knowledge and common sense to use any device without firewall .

You could say the same about a lot of the posters on this forum...

Out of curiosity I went to grc.com and checked the firewall on the phone. All green. Perfect.

Different Operating Systems have different security needs. No one solution fits all applications.

The OP provides no details about OS/device/etc... Sounds more generic than specific, hence my generic reply. ^^^

OP must've come from Android where a firewall is required. Don't worry, OP, you're safe.

I have used all 4 OS's without a firewall and in my experience a firewall is NOT required by any. Just a good dose of common sense is needed.
