I want to add a contact to People, but I do not want it linked to an email account. (There are various reasons for this, but I'm hoping the platform will enable me to do what I want.)
In WP8, I was able to manually add an account and give it garbage information, and I could add contacts to that account. While not exactly what I wanted, it was a tolerable workaround. There are a couple random forum posts on various websites that give more detail if you want it.
In WP10, only accounts that the phone has been able to successfully verify in some manner even show up as valid accounts to add a contact to. For example, if you disconnect WiFi and go into airplane mode, you're prevented from even trying to add an account.
