How can I transfer data from my old phone to my new one?

My old Lumia 520 is broken (cracked screen), so I have replaced it with a new (manufacturer refurbished) one. Because the screen on the old one is cracked, I can't transfer my data normally to the new phone. However, I can connect the old phone to my computer and view the folders in memory - but I can't see anything that looks like contacts data, or text files.
Is there a way to copy my data from the old phone to the new one? I have transferred the SIM card to the new phone, but it is not showing any contacts, texts, etc.

When you sign into your new phone with a Microsoft account it should transfer everything.

On your new device you just enter your primary email from old phone to new one and you'll get your contacts. As of txt msgs you'll need backup your old phone (you'll need screen to work) - then hard reset new phone. In process of registration enter same email from old on new.. This way you'll get txt and contacts
