Windows Central Question

Thank you for reading;

I purchased a Band a couple of months ago, I love it! The main feature I wanted it for was the sleep tracking. This week I haven't been using it during the daytime, it sits idle turned off. I only wear it at night. I turn it on at night, sync it, track my sleep then sync it in the morning and turn it off.

When I wake up in the morning it will show 0 (zero) steps as it should. When I turn it back on at night before bed it will show a number of steps, like 3,800. Why? Even if it's off is it tracking through my phone? Also seems like a lot of steps, I'm partially disabled so I'm not very active but I guess it's possible.

By the way it is linked to an iPhone.
