Why Viber downloads pictures that I don't know where they're from???

I use Viber both on mobile and desktop. On Mobile is ok.
But today I look at Viber Download folder in desktop, I find many many pictures that were surely not sent by me or my friends.
Those pictures mostly have details related to Viber icon, Viber leg cat etc,.
But some of them are personal pictures of normal people that I dont know.
I was terrified. If Viber automatically downloaded pictures from somewhere to my desktop, will it automatically upload, send my pictures to someone else????

Viber downloads photos from the public chats also. Unsubscribe from them and you will stop receiving strange photos.

Today i realized that on viber the public chats that i am a follower of has been storing the public chat pictures on my ViberDownloads image file on my computer.Those pictures are side by side along with my private chat pictures.
My Question is,Can the Public chat follower or even the Admin of the public chat see my Private chat pictures ,Will my private chat pictures get stored in their computer as well,like their pictures in the public chat gets automatically stored on my computer viber image file...

it seems to me that viber uses your computer as a part of somekinda' a peer-to-peer network
