If you're referring to Windows Phones, then I'm using the default email client as found in the settings of the phone. I receive real-time notifications for my email except for Yahoo! (since it appears to be a limitation imposed by Yahoo!).

You can only choose how many time the app will check for new mails, how can you receive them in real time?

Sounds like you're not using a MS email address. I have 3 MS email accounts and they all have the ability to send me emails as they arrive.

Open your email app > click on the 3 dots in the lower right corner > Settings > sync settings > "download new content" drop-down box > select "as items arrive"

What you're saying is applicable only to Yahoo!, at least from the list of email accounts I have. For Gmail and Outlook, you can choose to Download new email "as items arrive". That sounds like "receive in real time" to me. Check post #4.
