Why is my computer using so much internet data?

Hello,

I have a laptop running on windows 8.1. when I connect it to my mifi (att unite) at home I notice it uses a lot of data at least a gb in 5 mins! I had a computer repair shop in my town look at it. They said it didn't have spyware or virus on it. They said it was a software malfunction and the ram was very slow. They wiped it and put new software on it. It worked great for a couple of a months now it is doing it again. I have no idea what's wrong with it! It is a dell inspiron 15z. I have had it for about 2 years.

It might be downloading selected OS updates or OneDrive files for offline use.

Do you have something that runs in the background or runs upon startup?

The task manager says the service host local system is using 21 mbps

thats the most that I see when I connect the computer to internet. I have already turned off windows updates, and turned off live tiles
