What is the 'Status' icon that appears when Lumia 1020 is connected to PC?

I connected Lumia 1020 to my PC to transfer some photos, and for the first time, in addition to the 'phone' icon, there is a 'status' icon which is empty. What is it? Is it safe? A hack?

Hello and welcome to Windows Central.

I'm also seeing that whenever I connect my Lumia 1020 to my Windows 7 and now Windows 10 PC. It most probably is a temporary folder for temporary files which are used to communicated information between the phone and PC. If you would refresh your file explorer after a few moments, that folder should disappear.

It is not a threat, nor is it a hack - no such threats are present in an untampered Windows Phone.
