With Maps Finally Dead, what do people recommend?

MS announced Maps was going away back in April. Today is the first time I launched it and it actually didn't work. My only option was to uninstall. Very frustrating when a working app doesn't just stop getting updates but refuses to launch and must be removed. I suppose MS' logic is that without map content updates, it would become more and more obsolete over time.

I went ahead and installed Bing Maps as a web app through Edge, but it lacks vital features of the old Maps app, like inking on the map to get distances of non-straight lines, but MS had already disabled this feature a while ago, and the 3D view for terrain to get proper views and see topographical features.

In the Microsoft Store, I found "Earth 3D Map." (including the period), which strangely appears as Yttrium in Windows after installing it. This seems like mostly a skin for a few good map apps: Google Earth (good for 3D viewing), weather maps, star map, detailed topographic maps (but topo lines seem to only be in metric), and directions. But if I just wanted directions, I think I'd stick to Bing Maps as simpler for that task.

Has anyone else found a good Windows map? Are there any others like the defunct Maps that support inking for distance calculations? What do you use?

Google Earth Pro is probably the best option but alas, still no Inking on the map with that option.

Yeah, that's built into the Map app I purchased in the Microsoft Store (presumably using public API calls). Note that Google Earth, like all Google apps (I think), is not available in the Microsoft Store. That's their version of trying to harm Microsoft and Windows and one of many reasons I'd prefer to avoid Google apps to the extent possible. But Earth and YouTube do stand out for what they do compared with the competition.
