Microsoft band and mufitnesspal step source

New to the MS band, used my iPhone as a step source for myfitnesspal but for some reason when I choose my band it does not set or seem to register. I see a disconnect option but see presume it is connected. I try to unregister the device on both MFP and the Band app on the iPhone but it is always listed under under MFP as a device.

Any ideas how to use the step source as my band? I have both the latest version of the apps on my iPhone?
