Why windows phones are so low at configrations in compare to others

Windows 550 is offering only 1GB ram, every other phone in the same price range is offering 2GB or more ram. Even blackberry is offering 2 to 3 GB ram in Z30 etc.

This is the only aspect which holds me back from buying a new Lumia despite a windows 8.1 fan.

Is there any particular reason for this.

A few things to consider.
1. The Lumia 550 is a not a high end phone, the 950/XL are the high end models.
2. The Lumia 550 will run great on 1GB ram as the OS doesn't require high specs. Compared with the Android OS which is considered laggy.
3. When you say 'every other phone' give some examples. If the Z30 released in 2013 is the same price as the Lumia released in Oct 2015, then you are not comparing like for like.
