Why cant I see messages that I've just sent on my Microsoft Lumia 550

[Windows Central Question]

When I send a message on my Microsoft Lumia 550, the message shows up for like a second then disappears making me think that the message hasnt sent. This also happens when I recieve a message, I can click on notification but I cant see message what has been sent when the messaging app loads, any ideas of what is happening here?

Can you first check for OS updates to make sure you're on the latest update
Then check in store for messaging app updates
If the above is okay but none of your messages are being saved, check in settings >backup to confirm that your messages are being backed up
