Windows Central Question

I let my friend use my laptop today (windows 10) for about half an hour while I was upstairs. Later when he had gone home, I went on to "recent files" in file explorer to continue writing a document I had been working on. However, I discovered that there were no files there (in "recent files")! Suspicious, I thought. Had my friend accessed some files he shouldn't have, and cleared the "recent files" list in order to cover his tracks?

So my question is: How can I tell what applications or files were accessed on my computer over the last few hours/days? A secondary but less important question: Is there any way this "recent files" list could have been empty without having been deleted/cleared? I have accessed files since, and they showed up here. I have not, however, turned off my laptop, if that's relevant.

I'd much appreciate your help here from a personal standpoint, as I'm sure you understand!

No idea, only thing i can tell you is when i start Ccleaner it will delete all history, including recent files in explorer. I'm not sure if you can still see the things that have been cleared.

You can see many different logs of what is done on your PC by opening "event viewer" (if it doenst come up in search its under all apps in "windows administrative tools" and no the recent files would have to be manually cleared (be it in file explorer, a disk clener (ie Ccleaner), or windows disk cleanup), but it doesn't clear itself.
