Read-only message in texts

Hi.

Yesterday my 'phone did strange things with text messages. First off I went to send a text to a contact and it wouldn't let me send as the bottom box was greyed out and said "Read-only message" in it.

I was able to send this contact a text by starting a new thread.

I also noticed that it had doubled up messages. This has now cleared but some texts sent yesterday have disappeared.

Is this a 'phone problem or a SIM problem?

have you installed any updates recently? Can you check in store app to see if there are any app updates pending?
Check for OS updates too
Finally, check to see if your main account is syncing properly
