I bought a new computer, and need a word processor. Can I purchase Word only?

I've used the knock-offs (Open office) and its awful. I need only a word processor.. (not excel, or powerpoint). Something truly Microsoft. I don't want a trial, or subscription, or something where I have to be online to use it. It doesn't have to be the latest version. Is there any affordable option where I can purchase "MS Word" only? Any advice is helpful.

You can try purchasing the Microsoft Word mobile app from the app store. Just a thought.

They might still be offering a one year trial of office 365. Also word online is free but it's worse than open office.

They're aren't something you'd see in an ad, but MS does sell standalone licenses, although they are more expensive per application than say, the Home and Student 2016 suite ($150) but if all you need is Word, then there you go.
