Does Windows Defender protects only files?

[Windows Central Question]

I ran across one antivirus comparison and realised that Windows Defender is basically protecting only files which are executed (eg. infected with malware).

But how about when I am about to enter malicious site? Does it protect me or is this just out of its capabilities?
