My Lumia 830 WhatsApp stopped working after an updates. What to do

Is Whatsapp loaded to your SD card if you have one in the phone?
If so move it to the phones internal storage or reinstall the app.
Try holding the off button down for 20 seconds or so until the phone vibrates then release to soft reset your device.
You won't lose any data or features afterwards.

When you say it 'stopped working', what exactly do you mean? Does it fail to open? Is there an error message? Please give more information.
