How much ram do you really need?

I've seen a lot complaints about the 4gb ram on the S laptop and the new SP. I have a SP4 core m and get on fine for daily stuff and well actually everything I do. How much ram do you 'really' need? I think I saw a post on imore about ram in Macs. Can we have something for windows cause I am kinda confused why people complain about the 4gb so much?

It depends on your usage, for a normal use like browsing, watching movies etc 4gb ram is enough but if play high end games you require a higher ram and gpu for better performance.

I surf with chrome and edge, watch movies and code with visual studio without any problem with my hp 4 gb laptop.

I would say 4-6GB of RAM for phones

and 8-16GB for laptops, Surface, etc.
