My desktop does not recognize second monitor.

I am attempting to use two monitors. I have connected the second monitor to my desktop and connections are operable. My desktop does not recognize the second monitor. At this point I have downloaded new drivers, rolled back drivers, installed again, restarted my desktop several times, and I'm now at a loss. Help please.

I second this, check the cables, check for any Windows updates and also install any drivers that the second monitor needs. It may also be that your graphics card perhaps doesn't support dual monitors? Again, that could be solved by updating drivers.
