After 13 years I said bye bye to Big Red last month. Mostly because of their lack of interest in WP but also because it's nice to have the freedom of unlocked phones. I purchased the Z5 Compact and was running it on ATT network for the past 3 weeks or so. To know that I'm not beholden to whatever VZ wants to peddle is quite liberating actually.

Correct me if I wrong but, isn't there a few Credit card devices availble for Windows Phone now ? I know there is an app for the paypal one... and I know another one or 2 were talked about.

(Connecting one of those devices through the headphone jack and accepting CC on your phone)
Yep, I use PayPal and it works great.

When I came over from BlackBerry I switched from Sprint (which I liked) to Verizon to get the Icon, out of the frying pan into the fire.....
I dropped AT&T years ago for Sprint, and swore I would NEVER go back to AT&T, they were THAT bad.
If Sprint would carry the 950 or the upcoming Surface phone, I'd go back with them in a heartbeat, I don't see that happening either.
Here's to Cell service providers in America *sigh*

I still have no idea what I am going to do! I have read on here for years how expensive Verizon is but after going to my local at&t store big red is looking pretty good. At&t is offering me a 2 gb data plan for the same price as my Verizon 5 gb plan! I want a 950 but I don't know if I can accept that reduction. Right now I am leaning towards either trying an android for a week since I have never actually had one or getting a replacement battery for my icon and seeing if that improves on my 7 hour battery life!

I stayed Verizon but have ditched windows phone altogether. Currently using an iPhone 6s Plus and pretty dang happy with it.

I tried the 6S plus just to see if I could switch and stay with VZ. Returned it. Safari is a truly horrible browser, which is a tool I use daily. Well after coming from IE11 and Edge I felt like swimming in molasses with Safari. And other browsers like Chrome are just an interface to the same required base browser engine that Apple requires as the only IOS option. Figures. App selection is nice but didn't find any of the ones that I use on Win phone to be any better on IOS, despite expecting they would be. Missed tracking individual mailboxes and folders on the start screen. I have folders for Helpdesk and personal all on Exchange and I don't need to be "looking" into the mail app every time the counter goes up to just see if I have relevant emails that need attention.

I guess IOS works for many so if you love it - enjoy it. Some things were nice but key things I use every day were just not for me.

Snapchat is probably the only app on iOS and Android that's not on Windows that I would like to use. But that app alone is not enough to get me to leave Windows.

I'm wondering if Verizon will get the Acer Jade Primo. That's very similar to the 950. Currently, I've not seen any indication of it selling in the US, but I hold out hope that Microsoft didn't accept Verizon's terms in part to make room for OEM's to sell to the US market. Otherwise, they may fear that producing a Windows Phone would be a dud, purely from customer focus on Lumias.

So I ruled out the switch to at&t. As much as the 950 is the phone that I have been waiting for I can't justify the switch. After doing some research I have decided to pick up an HTC m8 on eBay. There are some serious negatives but overall I like the phone. I just didn't want payments or a contact. If Verizon does get a new windows phone I will jump on it but if not I think the m8 will keep me satisfied for a while. I was tempted to try Android but I like the direction of windows 10 and I'm just a windows guy!

In my case I switched to an Icon from my 928. I didn't renew my contract though just in case there's some kind of surprise announcement and I wouldn't want to be locked into a 2 year contract if that happened.

I love the Icon except for the battery life. In addition to the m8 I ordered a new battery for my icon. That way I can see if it helps while trying out the m8. The icon gas went from barely lasting me through a day to lasting a max of 7 hours.

So I finally did it. After deciding to stay on Verizon I picked up an HTC m8. Coming from an Icon its an adjustment. Overall I love the m8 so far. As far as hardware, it feels and looks premium, more so than the Icon. As far as negatives... Of course the camera is inferior but it takes acceptable pictures. I just wish I could get the HTC photo editing app to work. The power button being up to is so inconvenient! On the Nokia it was right where my dinner was and easy to push. Thankfully the m8 has double tap to wake and amazingly double tap to sleep! The boom sound is great also. Battery life is decent, I get about 13 hours as opposed to my Icons 7. Overall I would definitely recommend the m8 to anyone looking to stay on Verizon.
Update: I forgot to mention theon screen navigation keys. I have read many debates over which are better and this phone has made me pick a side. Going back to my Trophy my palm has hit the back button over and over and over. On this phone not one accidental button press. On screen navigation wins hands down!

I made the jump from Icon/Verizon to 950xl/AT&T. I mostly am in places that have good wifi so losing a GB or two of data won't be a killer. My wife works for the local university so we get 15% discount plus another $10 per month off our Directv bill by combining the two accounts. So far, so good.

No real choice for me as to carrier as the others don't have indoor coverage to speak of. While my Icon has been spectacular, the whole landscape of Verizon, Microsoft, and apps just has taken on a barren, sterile feel. The unassuming appearance of the Icon itself lends an air as well. While I appreciated its understatement in the beginning - something about it all is "off" and I can't quite put my finger on it. I could certainly continue on with the Icon and W10M as long as it kept going - but again - something about it all is "off" and I can't quite put my finger on it.

My Tony Stark Ironman themed Droid Turbo2 via Motomaker arrives in the morning. Also considered the V10. That is also one nice device. I get my fill of iPhones dealing with them at work, so knew I didn't want to go there. It'll be interesting to see what of my old Google Play stuff will still be available after 3 years with WP8/8.1/10....

I would love to have a 950XL in my hands but for now, staying with VZW. My 3 year old 822 continues to work fine except for the charging port (bought a wireless charging back to take care of that issue). Me and my daughter are off contract but the wife has until June 2016 before she breaks the chains. Will decide then what I'll do. Ideally, Microsoft Lumias will be available on Verizon around then. If not, then hopefully some decent OEM W10 phones will be available on VZW. If not, I'm not sure what we'll do. Our house in in somewhat of a crappy zone for coverage for both VZW and ATT. We bought a signal extender from Verizon three years ago which really helps a lot. Would hate to have to fork out more money for the same from ATT. The wife and daughter have Galaxys and I cant imagine them switching to WM10. But I cant image myself switching to Android or iOS. The saga continues until June...
