I have just bought a brand new HTC 8x phone. It has already been setup. After that i wanted to sign into my microsoft account to access the wp store but i can't. It says "we're having a problem with signing in. Make sure you have good reception. If you do, the problem may be a the other end. Wait a little while and try again". I've been trying to sign in for 4 days now. I've tried using both my wi-fi at home and using my phone internet, but it still doesn't work. How do i solve this problem? Is it the phone's problem? Plese help, i really can't do much without signing in.:unhappysweat:

Have you tried logging into your Microsoft account on a pc since you unsuccessfully tried to sign into your Windows Phone? They can get suspended for all kinds of reasons from a spam email being sent from your email to cheating on Xbox Live to having porn on your Sky drive. It can even get suspended by trying to use it to sign into a new pc or phone it doesn't know.

If you can still access your ms account online, then hard reset and try again seems a logical step.

What error are you exactly getting? Many of the issues with signing with a Microsoft account in Windows Phone has to do with the date and time. Make sure your phone date and time is correct. Go to Settings > Date+time

After any changes, restart

My 8x was also misbehaving so i factory reset it. now when i try to set it up, i get this
"cant connect.
we're having trouble signing in.
this service isnt available right now. please try again later."
it doesnt matter what i do. the date is correct, clearly i have data and i can sign in using my pc, i even downloaded some apps manually onto the phone, but when i go to the phone and try to install them, i am requested to sign in and voila! the same stupid message comes up. All my contacts are gone. i cant believe i was backing up my stuff on such an erratic platform.

On setup after factory reset and in my settings it doesn't even ask for my information. It goes straight from sign in or create one page to the "can't connect blah blah blah" Windows and HTC customer support have no idea..

I have been reading up on a few things. if you can connect your HTC 8x to your PC, go to Microsoft.com and browse the store for mobile apps and games and you can manually install these apps you chose to your phone. I hope this helps!!!

Not sure if this helps, but I noticed when I rolled my 8X back to 8.1 from Windows 10 that it would not let me sign into my Microsoft account until I had my carrier put it back on their network and I had carrier data. Seemed odd that it would not let me sign on over just my WiFi network connection.

I have an HTC 8X and I've had the misfortune of getting the same error message about "good reception" in regards to signing in to my MS account through the phone. Fortunately I am able to sign in to Outlook and Facebook (though sometimes they are unable to sync properly) so the phone is not completely useless. Though when it comes to downloading new apps, updating current ones or accessing Office, I am out of luck due to the fact that you need to be logged into your MS account in order to proceed with those actions.

Pull the SIM card out, restart device, log into account, then reinsert SIM card.

Thank you, but unfortunately this did not solve my particular issue.

Thank you for your input, I am running Win 8 on my device and after much reading about my issue this is the only possible solution I have been able to come up with. I have been trying to sign in through WiFi for days now and have had no luck, as I said, Outlook and Facebook work ok, and IE is also functional. I will most likely be purchasing an AT&T plan tomorrow, and the sim card should arrive in a few days. I will test this solution for myself and report back to this thread with the results.

Exactly the way my 8X worked without carrier data. Once is was back on the carrier plan I could log into my Microsoft account.

My dad had this problem, and a reset did not help. After looking into his account, I noticed he had set up 2-step verification, so I selected the "Create an app password" button when logged into a PC browser and entered the code it provided in the password box, and it worked. There is an article that explains in detail: support dot Microsoft dot com en-us/kb/2432933
