WON't display images I send by email from my Mac

If I send a picture from my Mac via email (pop3), the email shows in my phone's email. If I tap on the download link in the email, it then says "download incomplete" and won't display the picture I sent in the email from my Mac. How do I fix this. Images that come as part of an advertisement do display in my phone's email...only images sent to my phone from my computer won't display. HELP!

What size is the file ? 4032 x 3024 and 8 MB or more ?

Thanks for helping. Standard photo taken with a canon elph, forwarded from picasa by email, from my Mac computer.

I don't know what you set the camera to for image size* but I don't think you'll be able to open a huge file on your phone.

* "standard" what does that mean?

Make a copy of the foto and try changing it to 640 x 480 that is post card size and see if you can open it.
If that works change to 1 MB and so forth until it won't open.
