Yesterday actually. Still, it is horrible for the users of the 640 XL (and M8) to be left out when their phones are newer and have the appropriate specs for W10.

There are T-Mobile branded Lumia 640's if the network is a priority. Another T-Mobile first option would be the Alcatel Fierce XL. Reviews have it as a decent mobile phone, so it may be something to consider if you will remain only on MetroPCS/T-Mobile for the foreseeable future.

If the phone is for T-Mobile, it will work on MetroPCS without being unlocked. If the phone is MetroPCS branded, it will not work on T-Mobile if it's not unlocked.
