Tech journalist's BS after W10 event

13 years, but who's counting, lol. I read the same comment and thought you've got to be kidding me. You bought a computer when you kid was in kindergarten and now that he's entering college you are p1ssed that the old XP don't work no more with all it's peripherals. Seriously? Reminds me of...

Tech journalist's BS after W10 event

So many 'journalists' are way too personal about technology in their reviews. It's like forum banter - MS is crap, Apple rules, oh yeah Android is the best. The reality is that any of the top 3 smartphones brands are pretty darn good - think of everything we can do with such a small device...

    WP9 Action Center Concept

I can't see why MS copied other OS notification centers. They should have had the center on the left of the main screen; eg: swipe left for notifications, swipe right for app list. Think about how nice the notification center could be on the left, lots of room and easy to return to start

Debating on getting a 1520 or an Icon/930 help!!!

Exactly. I looked at a 1520 and found it was too big for the type of things I want to do with a phone. A lot of time I need to carry it in my jeans pocket and it sticks out the top. As much as I like the phone I realized I would have problems sitting down with it pocketed, and not having a...

Nokia Lumia 930 LTE Band Required for Canada

What type of download speeds do you get on speedtest? At the end of a medium use day, how much battery is left? How hot does it really get? My HTC 8X gets very hot when running Here Drive - how would it compare? What phone are you upgrading from? Thanks for the help.

    Canadian experience report

Charging plate included or not, does the phone have the internals for it? In other words can a charging plate be bought to work with the phone or is it missing the guts too? Thanks.

Have 1520 but should I have waited?

I'm not sure if the 930 will work with Bell LTE, I'll have to see what others say...

Have 1520 but should I have waited?

To me the biggest issue with the 1520 is the pocket-ability. I have an 8X now and put together an actual size comparison to get an idea of the 3 phones, since I can't handle one in a store in Canada. For me the 930 is looking pretty good - fairly compact with a 5" 1080 screen. Be sure to...

Had 920 and loved it ? Don't wait for 935 or 1030, get 930 NOW!

You might be waiting a while for a 930 with glance since the screen tech apparently does not have memory and cannot support glance.

Canadian review / user experience with the 1520.3 (RM-938 variant)

Thanks Mike. Can you comment on this Ars article regarding scaling. Did things change from 8 to 8.1? Thanks a lot. The Lumia 1520: enormous hardware, troublesome software | Ars Technica

Canadian review / user experience with the 1520.3 (RM-938 variant)

Thanks for the update Mike. I was looking at B&H as well. I like everything about the device but have never held it. Can it be used one handed? Can you reach the back button? I am 6'3" with fairly large hands; just wondering it is to use on a daily basis. Also, does 8.1 do anything to have...

Canadian review / user experience with the 1520.3 (RM-938 variant)

Interesting. Playing around with my HTC I see that the tap seems to occur on the TouchUp event. If I tap an icon but don't lift my finger, no tap is registered - from there I can scroll etc. If I tap and hold, it goes into edit mode as expected. But the action of tapping and then moving...

Canadian review / user experience with the 1520.3 (RM-938 variant)

Thanks for the info. If you were to swipe up and down on the home screen many times without ever lifting your finger would a tap register? I wouldn't think it should. I have seen a 'touch issue' on my wife's 520 when the screen was set to high sensitivity.
